Movie Review

The Princess Bride (1987)

Last week, we watched a movie called "The Princess Bride" which was filmed by Rob Reiner in 1987. The genre is action and romance. The Princess Bride is about a man who tries to save and meet the woman that he loves. It was really interesting for me so I thought that I could write an essay about "The Princess Bride." In my movie report, I would like to talk about basic information about this movie and add my personal opinion.

In this move, there are various unique characters and settings. Specifically, the main characters of this movie are Buttercup (Robin Wright), Westley (Cary Elwes), Count Rugen, Miracle Max, Fezzik and many others. It is a story of Buttercup and Westley basically trying to fight the challenges together to find each other. There are many extraordinary settings in the movie as well, such as Forrest of Thieves, Cliffs of Insanity, fire swamp, and Pit of Despair. The Forrest of Thieves seemed especially peculiar animals were seen. For example, there were the rodents of an extraordinary size that attacked Westley once.

The plot is about Buttercup and Westley who was her farm boy falls in love. However, Westley had to leave and Buttercup hears the news of his death. So she almost marries the Prince Humperdinck even though she doesn't love him. One day, a man named Vizzini and his hunch men kidnaps her. However, a man with a mask comes after them and finally saves Buttercup. Later on, Buttercup discovers that he is Westley and they try to escape which they fail. Even though they face numerous challenges, they never keep trusting each other and then it has a happy ending.

Before watching the movie, I predicted that since this movie was made in 1987, this movie could be tedious for me and could make me drowsy as well. However, there were so many internal and external conflicts (especially between characters) that were unexpected that I closed my eyes in surprise countless times. O was also astonished and amazed at the same time while watching the movie because I thought it was unique how two very different genres fit perfectly in the movie. From watching the movie, I learned the lesson that true love is one of the most powerful elements in the world. Also, the qualities of leadership that I can learn from this movie is convincing one's enemy that one is a friend just like Westley had became close to Indigo and Fezzik. Overall, I think that the plot was very exciting and interesting and that the people who made this movie pulled a story that usually belong in a hard - cover book in to an amazing movie in a detailed way.

In conclusion, I really enjoyed watching this video and I would like to recommend this movie especially to the people who are interested in ancient tales.

  1. You wrote a terse and solid journal. :) However, it would have been much better if you had elaborated more on what you had thought. For example, you can explain more on the qualities of leadership.
